In keeping with tradition of coming up with Olympics-related doodles, Google releases the London 2012 diving doodle as it marks the start of the Olympics diving event on Sunday, July 29, 2012.
The doodle shows a female diver poising herself to do a backflip into the swimming pool, with the letters of the Google logo forming the pool’s backdrop.
Fans will enjoy watching men and women showing off their diving prowess in events such as the Men’s 3m Springboard, Men’s Synchronized 3m Springboard, Men’s 10m Platform, Women’s 3m Springboard and Women’s Synchronized 10m Platform.
Diving first saw light as part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games at the 1904 Games of St. Louis. It has been recognized as a legitimate Olympic sport since then.
The clear favorite in this fancy diving sport is China, as it has won so many medals in the sport for so many years now.
