Google’s London 2012 Olympic doodle for Tuesday features the Artistic Gymnastics Men’s Rings event. The doodle shows a mustached male gymnast performing on the men’s rings. The rings form the two O’s of the Google logo.
Rings Gymnastics is a discipline meant only for men, as it requires a great amount of physical strength.
China, the defending champion for this gymnastic event, lorded over the other competitors as it nabbed the gold medal on Monday. Great Britain ended up in second place, while Ukraine got the bronze medal. Things changed however, when Japan was later on awarded the silver medal after a judges’ inquiry led to the Great Britain dropping from second third, thus kicking Ukraine out of the medals tally.
Initially, Japan finished fourth when Japanese superstar gymnast Kohei Uchimura fell on the pommel horse. The judges considered an appeal against his score, and then moved Japan up to second place.
