Google’s doodle on the fifth day of the London 2012 Olympics honors the sport of hockey. The doodle shows a female player holding a hook-shaped stick, playing hockey on a pitch.
This doodle looks simple, as no letters from the word “Google” were replaced with either the hockey stick or balls. You’ll find the Google letters along the sidelines, with the second “O” and third “G” hidden behind the player.
The London 2012 hockey games will take place from July 29th to August 11th. For the first time ever at the Olympics, the hockey pitch which all of the 192 men and 192 women will be playing on is blue instead of green. Hockey was always played on grass, but this time, they will happen on water-based synthetic turf pitches. These allow the ball to roll more easily and quickly.
