A Published Draft

My recent conversation with my sister:

Sister:        What are you up to these days?

Me:              I blog. I’m a blogger.

Sister:        What’s a blogger?

Me:             Like a writer. I write stuff. A blog is like an online diary.

Sister:       Wow! Are they published? Where? I wanna read them.

That question brought me back to my forgotten blog. It was set-up by a friend I met in a seminar. There I wrote my daily experiences, rants, and favorite quotes. It was year 2004.

I just want to write.

When I was a little girl, I was never without a pen and paper. Everywhere I went, even if I’m not in School, I brought with me a pen.. and if there was no paper, a tissue will do, receipts or anywhere I can scribble into. I dreamed of being a writer just like my favorite authors. I remember rewriting stories I’ve heard of or watched. My father wrote poems and short stories. My eldest brother is a playwright. My sister writes poems too. I looked up to my sister’s and brother’s talents in art. They write and draw very well.

But I somehow did not acquire that gift.

Second year highschool our teacher had us compile our Autobiography. It should contain pictures and description of the photos. It was one of my most treasured possession and also to my Dad as well.

*to flip the pages, locate your mouse at the corner of the page and click. you can also hold the mouse and drag the page.

After graduation, I took a different path in life. My brother had to stop writing plays and had to start earning real money. You know, there’s no real money in writing, unless you get into Show business or your work gets published.

My writing remained in spaces of notebook scraps and fortunately that led me to starting my own blog. My first blog served as my online diary. After boyfriend introduced me to the world of computers, I learned how to type without looking at the keyboard and I thought how convenient it was to write my stories. Writing it down on paper will take me days to finish a single paragraph.

But boyfriend had a different one in mind.

I can’t write.

Sometime in a writer’s life you get a writer’s block. After reviving my fedhz.com domain, which wasted the webspace for a whole year, I wasn’t so sure on what to blog about. Boyfriend and I debated which topic will sell. He wanted me to write about Technology and current Events. That is so not like me. I ended up copying and quoting from the internet.

Days past with nonsense blogpostings. And then I learned to blog hop. Through blog hopping, I met mommy bloggers and they inspired me. They gave me ideas on what to blog about. I have found my niche.

I want something I can call my own. This domain is Fedhz.com and it’s for me. My story. Who is fedhz and what she is to the world. I thought I will stick to that.

Someone’s once told me that to write well,  you have to write what you know. And this is what i know. – Josie Gellar Never Been Kissed

I’m a mother. I love life. I enjoy visiting places and taking pictures of them. I like sharing the things I’ve read and been to. I want to meet people from different places and different culture. I love to sing and dance. I spend most of my time reading.

Everybody has a Story. - Oprah Winfrey

And this is my story. I wanna share my baby’s first smile, when she toppled over her crib, what we did when she swallowed a coin, when boyfriend and I got new pair of glasses because we both acquired Astigmatism from reading in the dark so our kid can go to sleep, what movies we watch on Saturday Nights to keep in touch with our sanity, what are our ways to support our baby.

I know I have something to contribute. I hope in this venture I would be able to share my experiences and somehow people will learn from them. I wanna talk about what I’ve read and experienced. I wanna write about them. I wanna hear other people’s ideas and different points of view regarding a matter.

.. and blogosphere made it all possible for me.

A realized dream.

If writers’ dreams are to get their work published, I am too. And now my story can be published in just one tick. Thanks to the power of internet. Thanks to blogosphere. I can connect to you. I can connect to the great world out there.

I may not be a savvy writer nor an eloquent speaker, but I became a writer in my own right.

My childish dream of publishing my Autobiography is slowly being realized.

So I propose to myself…

This blog is gonna be my Autobiography in the Making.

Hi Fedhz. You are a good writer. You just need more focus on what to write about. Believe in yourself, because nobody will if you don’t. You are good and I enjoy reading your work.

Hi Fedhz! Thanks for sharing your story.

Very well said! Bloggers are all writers in their own right. I appreciated the experiences you are able to share with the rest of us. Blogging has always been a learning experience and we all are learning from each other. That is the sweetest and the most wonderful thing about blogging.

Thanks for coming up with this lovely piece. You are officially IN for the competition.

Best of Luck!

Of course you can write.

This post is exhibit A. Well written: sincere, candid, no pretensions whatsoever.

You’ve got to believe in yourself more. Look, it’s in your genes. You’ve got only to think of your family to get you going. I’m sure they’re behind you in your dreams and aspirations.

That’s a great flippable autobiography. High Tech! “,)

this is a great post fedhz, one that inspires others to write as well. you are so right, it doesn’t matter if one cannot write like the bestselling authors. for as long as you can express yourself well and get your message across clearly. i guess that’s all that matters.

but if truth be told, you are one great writer. i can never write the way you do. and i love the autobiography that you made way back. which reminds me that i should use my artistic skills back to good use! hehe!
