Everyday, you can hear me complain – the maids are not doing their jobs, my back is aching, I haven’t enough sleep, I have so many things to do, so little time… and the list goes on. Yesterday was the wake up call for me. The new maid has all her excuses to do her tasks, just like me. Maybe it’s my karma or what.
I can’t impose much to her because I am not the one who’s paying her. Maybe that’s what she feels too. The only job she is doing well is cleaning the Granny’s rooms and nothing more. When you ask her to do something – which is on a daily basis because it seems she is not aware or is lazy to do anything else – she’ll never run out of alibi.
It would be understandable if you can see her doing a lot of chores in the house. But that’s the complete opposite. If you don’t see her on her cellphone chatting away with foolishness, she’s outside chitchatting with the neighbor’s maid. I mean, who could blame her? She’s just 21 years old.
Maybe I’m just used to the previous maid who will finish her tasks first before dillydallying. In the morning that maid will wash our clothes, and in the late afternoon, you’ll find those clothes neatly ironed and piled. This new one will take forever before she finishes anything!
Looking into the bright side, I think I am learning from her. Besides it’s my responsibility to watch over our stuff and keep them clean. I shouldn’t rely on the maids and so I should learn to manage my time. Disciplining should be on top of the list. If I have discipline then managing my time will be easy and everything else.
