Assuming Responsibilities

As I was brought up with less responsibilities (household chores that is) being the youngest child, the transition was hard for me when I lived with hunny and her grandmother. Before, my mom did all the chores and when I have spare time and extra diligence, I help her around the house. I started working at the age 16, so I think since I’m the “bread winner” why would I still be responsible for everything else?

I used to wake up 10 in the morning, so my mom had already washed our clothes, swept the floor, wiped the furnitures and cooked the food. I would love to wash my clothes but my mom can’t stand to look at the piled up “dirty” clothes from my bed, behind my door, or on the chair. She has this OCness that she just want everything in place. So, when I wake up, everything’s clean and there’s nothing left for me to do. I insist on washing the dishes after we eat, because I don’t want to do the keeping the plates and utensils back. I thinkt that’s boring.

Right now, I’m excited over the thought that I’ll be washing and ironing our clothes. The previous maid did everything so like at my mom’s, there’s nothing left for me to do but to put them inside the cabinets. I even bought new hangers and clips… that’s how excited I am!

Just the other day I rubbed and waxed the floor. I felt accomplished as a housemaker. Someday when hunny, I and Yz have our own house, I would want to cook for them and make the house tidy. I love cleaning, you know. It’s just that I have this thing that I can’t explain. Hmm… OC? haha..

I hope I can sneak in my exercise routine every other day when I have no clothes to wash and iron. Washing and ironing give me back pain that I just want to lay down and relax. It’s all a matter of setting a goal, time management and discipline, I guess. ^^

Good luck for me!
