We’ve been making polvoron for fourteen years. It was only after a decade that I learned to make new flavors with the suggestion of an old buddy from school. I never thought that it will be a hit not only to children but also to adults.

I wanted to give away our homemade polvoron as my gratitude for keeping me alive in school. My parents couldn’t provide for my daily allowance. I had to sell polvoron so I can buy food or other items for projects and other requirements in school. My classmates and teachers were very supportive. I was able to gratuate in a private school with only polvoron to get by.

I didn’t go to college, but enrolled in Short Courses. I still had the homemade polvoron with me. New classmates were so supportive again. I also sold polvoron to my other “suki” (regular customers) cashiers and registrars in that institution even without classes so I had money for the next coming days.

No, this is not a sob story, guys. I just wanna share why I’m very glad to share polvoron to you. When I studied caregiving (sponsored by a person with a good heart), I traded polvoron with my classmates for things required in school. Most of my classmates were parents, so most of them bought polvoron for “pasalubong” (take home) to their kids.

It broke my heart when I met the kids of one of my classmates.. They told me. “Oh! You’re the one Mommy told us about. Mommy had to buy polvoron from you so you can go to class.” I don’t really know if I’d feel pity for myself.

Thinking about this made me realize how lucky I am. Very lucky. These polvoron put food on our table. These polvoron travelled all over the Philippines, to Canada, Singapore, Australia and everywhere my customers brought them to.

So, thank you! Thank you to my mom’s friend who taught us this wonderful recipe. Thank you to my classmates, friends, and neighbors who appreciated this small business. Seeing your satisfied smiles while munching on crunchy polvoron makes my heart happy.

sureness. sama ka sa EB bukas? suot ka na lang ng girl costume. ^^ yaan mo next time pag may EB ng boys, sasama ako, hehehe. uu nga eh, 14 years na. kaka-miss gumawa. dati di pa ko marunong. tiga-balot lang ako, ngayon, ako na lahat from buying to delivery. hehe

hmmmm…sumali ka ba sa Urbanites sa Saturday? hindi ako makakasali kasi start na ng badminton tournament sa amin…magpapadala sana ako ng polvoron :D

last time na nag kta kita tau i gave papa one pack.. i made him happy, i will forever cherish that. thank u!

haha, uu nga eh. di ko alam kung anong magiging tema nitong post na to. pero in time lang ito dahil bukas nga mamimigay ako ulit ng polvoron. ^^

bukas na pala yun. naku indi e, paano hindi ako pinayagan ng parents ko. tsk. yan ang hirap pag umaasa pa sa parents ih. hehe

ano ba! ang SARAP ng polvoron mo ha! hindi sya yung nakakaumay na sarap. baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad! sira ang diet ko kanina dahil naubos ko sya agad. hahaha! pagkakitaan na natin yan! =))

wahhhh! di man lang ako nakatikim ng pulvoron mo, kasi yung binigay mo sa akin, di inabot ng 2 minutes naubos, huwaaaaaa! I love Pulvoron, laging yan ang dala ko pauwi dito. Hey like what you said, you are lucky that you were able to make that recipe na tumulong para makatapos ka ng course mo. Oh ha! Life is fair, I tell yah! You just have to wait until your time comes.. and yours did…

Wow! That is something of a story Fezdh! But what I dont know is the process of making polvoron. What is the ingredients? How to make it? I know I love eating them but never have I thought how it was made until I read this post of yours! Great story!

Hi, Roj! Ingredients are flour, butter, milk, sugar, and crispy rice or pinipig. kaso mahal ung pinipig, so iba ang price pag ganun. anyway, may mga klase and tatak na masarap pag pinaghalu-halo itong ingredients na to, so un ang secret. hehehe. naku, tagal gawin. kakapagud. mga 2-5 hours ang 2 pieces na small.

Reading this actually made me crave some polvoron. Do you sell online? Hehe.

I remember when I saw younger, the smell of polvoron cooking really excited me. And then that tool you use to make them into those oval shapes? I don’t know what it was called, but it was really cool. Hahaha!

uu ako rin. first kong naamoy ung sinasangag na flour mga 6 years old ako. iba pa ung recipe ng mom ko nun. pero super love ko na syang kainin. yung, oval shapes, tawag dun hulmahan. simple as that. hehehe. korek. cool tlaga pag sa una. lalu na pag nakakabuo ka kase mahirap makabuo ng firm hehe. ^^

Hi Fedhz! Just mentioning your name to make sure it’s correct now! The bloggers in PH has a great way of socializing noh! I remembered having eyeballs with online buddies when I arrived in Makati… I was in Iloilo by then and we had a great party, mga 30 yung nag attend. So I guess your polvoron will be really a big hit!

I really like the way you write, “may puso” and dating sa akin eh….

Hey, Mona is there too.. hehehe, I don’t really pay attention to the story, but I just tasted Polvoron a few days ago. It tasted great! Hahaha… I’m now in Singapore. Unfortunately, not easy to find it here, it’s also so expensive >.<
