It was Paolo’s 21st birthday. I don’t know if they get a discount since his mom works as a marketing director in Edsa Shangrila or that they really love the food there. The food for the day (August 27, 2009 Thurs) were:
Birthday Noodles, Suckling Pig Combination, Braised Winter Melon Soup with Dried Scallops, Fried King Prawns coated with Cornflakes, Beef Fillet with Onion and Mushroom in Oyster Sauce, Sweet and Sour Pork, Pan-fried codfish fillet in light Soya Sauce, Deep Fried boneless Chicken with Lemon Sauce, Yang Chow Fried Rice. And for Desert, Chilled Mango Pudding and Fried Sesame Balls.
Sorry guys, I didn’t bring a cam with me, since Mike didn’t come along, I know I wouldn’t be able to take a decent picture with Yz around.
Anyway, I enjoyed every food, except for the soup. It’s kinda weird tasting. It was funny ’cause Yzabella was looking for the rice. She’s really used to eating rice whenever she’s placed on the table. Good thing the Noodles were served first. I loved the fish, the mango pudding and the sesame (buchi) balls. Yz loves jelly that she finished the whole cup of pudding. (I badly wished I could’ve brought home for the Daddy).
You will really feel the ambiance of fine dining, from the waiters who serve and act accordingly; the bathroom complete with soap, new and clean face towels, talc, lotion and hygiene bags, aside from the lady who stays inside the restroom who maintains it; and especially the people who eat there.
Yup, I don’t have the slightest idea how much the food and place cost. Mike said, if you don’t see the prices on the menu or in their website, then you know that it’s not affordable for average people like me who earns no more than Php10,000. Even the Granny who plans on celebrating her birthday next month in Summer Palace, announced that no drinks should be ordered. LOL
The GrandUncle who is a president of a known bank frequents the place. His daughter even commented that the food is “okay” meaning she has tasted better, which for me these were the best already. hahaha. This was my second time to eat in Summer Palace (first time when it was the Great Grand Mother’s 90th Birthday), when I thought we’ll be trying out other restaurant like Heat, Paparazzi, or Senju.
