The Shocking Truth

I am aware of the severity of the situation. Although I don’t watch the news, I’ve seen pictures from blogs of different parts of Manila drowned in flood. We were told that we were lucky because it is a little elevated where we are, and imagine my shock when I saw the next morning the remnants of the flood just about 300 meters away from us.

It’s very rare that this part of the street gets flooded. It’s very rare in general that these places were affected by flash flood. I was wondering where Pehpot was. She left a message to Mike saying that she’s fine, but I didn’t have the slightest idea what happened to her. When I checked out her blog, there’s nothing new. I was nervous but she said she’s okay.

It was just this 2 in the morning that we had a chat and she already uploaded the pics of what occurred in their area. I was really in shock. I really can’t think of any words to say. I mean, considering her situation, having 3 kids and another on the way add to it a hysterical maid, I don’t know how could’ve handle that myself.

My hands are shaking now looking at Yzabella  while she’s soundly asleep. I know her dad will always be there for her. But how about me as her mother? It was my decision not to watch the news cuz  I know how heartbreaking it would be seeing these people floating around on wheels. I just realized how trivial the things I worry about everyday.

Yesterday morning, Yz and I went to the doctor and we passed by the creek where people used to live under the bridge. They were washing their clothes on the side of the bridge from a hose. When we get back, they had built tents in the island (in the middle of Fairview Road) and hanged their wet clothes under the pouring rain.

My cousin who lived just beside the river in Frisco said they’re fine. Actually, I don’t worry about them so much cuz ever since time memorial, they get flooded even from a slight downfall. Getting submerged in muddy water is a regularity in their lives. Nope. They still don’t want to relocate. So I guess they should be fine.

My parents are the same. Heavy downfall causes our ceiling to drip. Having pails on top of beds and on floors is a common sight in the house. Niko seemed fine, aside from her dripping kitchen. Nonetheless they’re pretty fine. Kaye hasn’t contacted me as well, but when we chatted a few days back, she seemed fine as well. Mara hasn’t been online but you can check out her blog with lots of updates about the typhoon Ondoy and the flood. Ran had their house soaked in dirty water.

A few friends asked how I was like Jade, who is luckily in Singapore. My new buddy, Jeron (who lives in Pampanga also got flooded), and Mai who is in Mindanao which has no rainfall. So there.. I better check out my other buddies. Ciao for now.

Yung sa cousin mo correct, lagi namang binabaha dun pero last Saturday was the worst. Lagpas bahay ang flood sa kanila. Check out the pictures I took: http://www.takklefriends.com/2009/09/typhoon-ondoy-floods-metro-manila.html

the wrath of ondoy and the devastation he left lots of filipinos homeless, broken and scarred. hope di na maulit ang tragedy. typhoon ramil (lupit) is making its way to cagayan province. i pray for the safety of all filipinos.
