I’ve been using Mike’s Paypal account for about a year now. He wanted me to have my own account so we can manage our “finances” separately. I was worried about not having 2 valid IDs. I only had an SSS ID before, so when I got my student driver license, I pulled myself to UnionBank and applied for an EON account.
Since EON is a Visa account, it can be linked to your Paypal account so it can be verified. We opt to use a debit account, which is the EON in Unionbank instead of a credit card (which in a million years, we don’t plan on having).
My EON Visa Electron Card
Requirements:
- 2 Valid IDs (but the teller only photocopied my SSS ID)
- Php 350 – annual fee
- A pen (if you don’t want to use theirs)
After filling up the form, they will give you a receipt for the payment of Php 350 and will ask you to call up the branch after 5 business days if you can already claim your EON card. Yes, that easy.
You can even ask a friend, an assistant, or your mother, to apply for the card for you. Just provide IDs and photocopies of your IDs, and just for the sake, an authorization letter. I know you can also apply online, but it’s much faster if you drop by the bank instead.
After my procrastination for more than 5 business days, I called up the branch and asked if my EON card was ready for pickup. Guess what? Yes, it’s there already. Yey! I brought Php 100 so I could deposit it to my EON Visa account. What for? Because Paypal charges $1.95 for linking your visa account to Paypal.
The teller said I can only use my card the next day. Sure, no prob. She gave me the paper with the pin code in it. Although I don’t have plans on withdrawing from EON card (they charge Php10 per withdrawal, and plus plus on succeeding transactions), I need the card number and CVV that can be found at the back of your card to confirm for the paypal linking.

it took me quite a long time before i actually joined contests because i was literally new to all these (ni-generalize ko na =p) a few months back. i’m just starting to get the feel of things.

Hay nako weird. When I applied, 3 weeks daw and they didn’t photocopy my ID and didn’t ask me for the fee. I just have to call them in 3 weeks to know if my card is already available for pickup and then I have to pay the fee and give them a photocopy of my ID.
Oh, yeah. I missed that one. sabi ko na nga ba eh. kaw yun nagsabi sakin na 3weeks pa daw. siguro depende sa branch. ang pagkakaalam ko, galing pa sa Makati un. dapat nga diba mas mabilis sa inyo kase malapit kayo sa Makati? hm…

we didnt create an EON card but instead we linked the paypal to Metrobank ATM account… it was easy to do too..

as long as same name yung paypal and yung ATM savings account mo, pwede na….

ako namern un na rin ang gamit ko pangwithdraw. ayos lng un P10 per withdrawal hindi naman ako madalas magwithdraw dun e. nyok nyok nyok.
Php10 lang ba? hindi ba tumataas kada transaction? tska diba may kaltas pa din Paypal to EON?
hindi tumataas. meron kaltas. un Php50 pag under 7K ang niwithdraw mo.
after one year ako sumagot. o di ba. bwahahaha!
we have eon bank here but no paypal one
and my dad not like eon bank as keep bounce chq even though got money inside account
oh yeah union bank is not available at eon bank here but other bank.

this is a very good tip esp for those who want to get their own visa/mastercard cards. glad the transaction was very easy and di ka na hiningian ng utility bills to verify your home address. some banks ask for that. plus picture pa. tama ba naman yun?
ngek, two valid ids pala.. wala nga akong id eh, buti na lang meron akong Niko.. at katulad ng sabi ko sau noon, galit ako sa union bank.. mabuti naman at tinapos mo na agad agad yan.. at least ngayon may control ka na sa pera mo.. wag mo lang ubusin sa mega blocks ha

ay, sorry late ko na nabasa to. di ko pa alam, dear sa BDO kung pano yung ganyan.. pag paypal funds mismo gagamitin mo, pwede un. baka kumukuha pa ng funds ang paypal from BDO, un ata ang hindi pwede. so dapat maglilipat ka pa ng pera sa paypal account.
anong pwedeng gawin kapag na blocked ung unionbank eon card ko sa paypal?kc i entered the wrong pass code three times.
baka kelangan mo na gawa ulit EON account, or punta ka muna sa bank, then ask kung pwede palitan code, or baka pagawa ka ng bago, then link mo ulit sa paypal?
meron na ko EON account kaya lang forgot ko na pw. eon is intended for online transaction so, ung 10 charge for over the counter eh di naman magagamit unless kelangan mo talaga mag withdraw. kelangan ko na visit branch ko for my pw.. sigh
