2010 Elections Bogged Down Registration

Monday Oct 19, 2009

We’ve been pulling our butts up to go register for the 2010 Presidential Elections ever since July. Finally, after too much procrastination we finished it. We thought we will be registering in Barangay Batasan which is like a hell hole to go through. Fortunately, the registration wasn’t there. So Mike and I head over to Comelec’s office in Quezon City hall, 8th of September.

We were able to accomplish the first step and then was asked to come back on October 8th for the biometrics and other procedures. There are a lot of registrants already in there, besides we arrived at 4pm already. So we thought they couldn’t process our papers anymore.

When we came back the 8th of October, we were then asked to come back once again because of a very timely brownout. Apparently, the side of the Comelec office has some unknown electricity disruption when 90% of QC City Hall has lights on.

Anyway, we had no choice but to go home unaccomplished. It was a little frustrating considering you have to take a day off from work just to go there and you’d go home empty handed.

Before we left, I asked the guard/officer in charge if they have a contact number I could call before we spend another dollar for transportation and waste our precious time waiting in line just to be called back again for the next processes. He gave me a surly reply, “444-7272…” before I could speak again he said, “I will not repeat it again.” Ok fine.

Mike was uptight and said ‘to hell with the registration’. But when a friend told me that they will be going to Comelec this Saturday, I thought it’d be a good idea going there on weekends instead. I called up the number given to me by the strict Comelec OIC and was given a direct Comelec number to which no one answers. So I called up the number (which I think is from the information desk) again and was confirmed that Comelec is open Saturdays and Sundays until the end of October. Yey! Anyway, 2010 registration is up until the end of the month.

So yesterday when we had the chance to go back to Comelec, we were able to finish everything. Yey! The Voter’s ID will be released after the 2010 Presidential Elections according to one staff there.

they give you a hard time when all you want is to fulfill your obligation as a good citizen of this country. pagkatapos ng election, panibagong impyerno na naman sa mga bagong (o lumang) upo. hainaku. onli in da pilipins.

isn’t it ironic? you only receive your voter’s ID AFTER the election… what’s the use of the voter’s ID then? Hehe!

Hay buti nalang when I registered last 2006 for the 2007 local elections madali lang (or is it just me?). Haha! Pero still, madali lang. No hassle. Ang hassle lang is that I still don’t have my ID. Hindi padin daw okay. Ano ba yun! I asked my ex na and my kuya na ifollowup yun. Gusto ko ng ID :)

good for you for doing your “part” as a good citizen.. I was to post something about this registration thing.. imagine the comelec visited and put up a registration booth in ABSCBN! darn! and it seems like they been praising this stupid actors for doing their part as a citizen..

yeah as we just need to show identification card for registration. ON the day of election go the selected booth at your location and vote bring the identification card along.

but long queue as early morning everyone go early to wait open.
