Before you leave your house and register for the 2010 Presidential Elections, make sure you bring your important documents (both original and photocopies) like Birth Certificate, Valid IDs preferably SSS. As for me, I also brought my old Voter’s ID just in case they would let me transfer from one city to another and change of name without the need of affidavit.
When we get there in COMELEC Quezon City Hall, we looked for our respective district. We were asked to go get a form first, in which you have to fall in line (depends on the number of people in there doing the same thing as you) and will be asked for your documents and IDs. Although my old voter’s ID says I’m registered in Caloocan and that I wanted to have my name changed, they only asked for my Birth Certificate and Proof of billing to be submitted on the next processes which will be scheduled.
They attached the paper with photocopies of my IDs to a set of 3 papers. The first page includes a claim stub and at the back of the first page, your voting form. We were asked to come back after a month.
On our scheduled date, it was brownout in Comelec office, so we were only able to accomplish on the third visit which is a Sunday. The form that they gave you (which you should’ve filled up beforehand) will be checked: your district, the exact place where you were born.. etc.
Then you will be asked to wait to be called for the biometrics. Same thing happened when I registered 10 years ago. You will face the camera and have your thumbmarks scanned. After that they will give you the claim stub (which contains your precinct number). The staff said we’ll be able to receive our Voter’s ID after the election. Hopefully it’s this 2010 election, cuz I remember my old voter’s ID was mailed after 3 years. Well, at least it was a short 30-minute procedure in the registration hall. ^^

I was due for Kayil October 17, so I was a bit late on popping… and since I am multitasking maniac, I decided to register so I can do some walking… precinct from my in laws house is about a 1k haha.. so there, I was able to register (and no voter’s id still) and gave birth the other day.. hehe..
