When recession hit late last year, a lot of establishments in the US were greatly affected. One of them was Cendrillon. Why would I care about that Pinoy-owned restaurant? Because Perry (who happens to be Mike’s dad) worked there as a sous chef. Just 8 months ago, he told us that Cendrillon would close down and he had to look for another day job.

Luckily for him, Chef Romy Dorotan and his wife Amy Besa set up another restaurant in Brooklyn still with their signature Philippine adobo and barbecued ribs and added a new Korean-inspired dishes, and guess what? a bamboo motif designed by who else? Perry Mamaril.
Purple Yam is opening today, November 10 2009. If you happen to pass by 1314 Cortelyou Rd., nr. Rugby Rd. Ditmas Park and you’re in for a delightful treat of Pinoy/Korean cuisine, Purple Yam would be a good place to dine in. For inquiries call: 718-940-8188. Say hi to Perry for me. ^^
