I wished I was bolder of my fashion choices back in high school. Looking through evening fashion tips now, I realized my own prom dress was so unadventurous and playing “safe”. It was black and long, I wished I went for bright and short and bared my legs, and even wore flats instead of those high heels that I despise up to now.
But thinking again, maybe short prom dresses aren’t as chic back then as it is nowadays. And certainly ballet flats are only starting to be recognized as an acceptable prom article these days. Why didn’t it become in vogue much earlier?? It made me realize (yet again) that it’s been a long time since I went to high school.
Here I am, HOW MANY YEARS later, with a daughter that I will be sending to prom myself in a few winks (how time flies!) and a lot has changed in the promenade scene. But I personally think this is a good change. There would be more choices for Yzabella by the time she will be going to a prom herself, and I just know that I will be there by her side when it’s time to pick the perfect gown.
