Sister Act 1
I cannot think of any more words to describe how much I enjoy this movie. I’ve watched it over a hundred times in different media types, from Betamax, VHS, VCD and now in DVD. When they show it on local tv or cable tv, I don’t miss watching any of my favorite scenes. My only rant about the DVD copy is that it only has 1 DVD unlike other movie packages which include 2 discs which has the “making of the movie”. I am very fond of watching behind the scenes, so I would appreciate it if they’d included it on the DVD.
I first watched it when I was 9 years old. The first scene was boring for me. There are lots of scenes that seemed boring for a 9 year old like me who doesn’t pay much attention to the conversation parts. What I used to look forward to were the singing parts, especially when Deloris (Whoopi Goldberg) start teaching the nuns how to sing (properly). As I grew older, I realized a lot about this movie that it’s not only about singing, fun and entertainment. From Deloris’ struggles in the convent, trying to keep the real person that she is, her cravings for the night life, being hidden inside like a bird in a cage. For an outgoing and outspoken like Deloris, I can really relate how terrible it was to be kept inside, not only from being herself but her whole life.
