Yz and I (yes, only me and the naughty tot) attended the Northface 100 Trail Run Orientation. I made sure that we’d be able to be there since the race will be in another place which I’m not really familiar with although Mike grew up there. It pays to be informed. We were an hour early, and even though we went back there at the ROX in Bonifacio High Street at 7pm, there weren’t any occupying the front center seats.
Feeling like a reporter, Yz and I settled in just about five minutes before the host started the orientation. Bit by bit the “crowd” grew larger. There were a lot late comers so after the discussion, the questions asked were redundant. (nakinig ka ba?.. late lang. lol)
The speaker, Devin (was it Devin? sorry I didn’t get his name) was kind of serious when you see him but when he makes a joke, everyone laughs or giggles, yes, including Yz (as if she understood). Anyway, this orientation is actually for the 100km and 50Km runners.
Here’s one of the shots he made. That’s the peak of the mountain the 100k runners will be trailing up and back down. Imagine they should finish the 100kilometers in 30 hours. Geez.
This is the view from above. If you’re on the 50k and 100k, you’ll be trekking this down.
One of the exciting phase is this walking through the water log? The marshals shall put on some straps on each of the runners and they’ll be passing through the bridge one by one.
So, yeah, I attended the orientation for the 100k and 50k runners. Anyway, I was able to ask one thing that relates to mine and Mike’s run, that is we don’t need to bring the required gears during the race.
