Our Library

Tuesday May 4, 2010

Almost half of my school years were spent carrying my heavy books on my back. Not that I’m complaining. I learned a lot from them and I still feel like I should be keeping and re-reading the books instead of giving them away or selling them. But over the years, the collection has gotten bigger, and I’ve lately been advising my parents (whose house my old books are stored in) to just sell books, if only to reduce the space that it’s been eating all these years.

I know that it wouldn’t be easy, even for my parents (because they were the ones who bought it in the first place), but I thought that instead of rotting away in our room, we should just sell them and let other kids take advantage of the knowledge that is imparted from the pages of those books. So where do we sell back textbooks? There’s this online site that’s been in operation for some time, where people who want to sell their books gather for easier disposal of their used textbooks.

The good thing there is that sellers get instant price quotes for their books, shipping is free (with prepaid postage label) and payment is made fast through PayPal or check. Plus the site is a dream to navigate so any seller will be able to go through the textbook buyback process in no time.

Now the only thing left to do is determine which books in the storage will go first. I really would hate to see my old books go. When I see them it reminds me of my childhood. But I guess there’s a time to let go of things. Especially if I know that letting go means somebody else will benefit hugely from my action. Besides, the longer I hold them back the smaller their market value will be when I finally decide to sell them.

I also have a hard time letting go of my books because of it’s sentimental value but you are right we should let others benefit from them.

mahilig din ako magcollect ng books and magazine, kaso minsan asa hiraman. minsan naman nasira na dahil sa kakalipat.
