There are heaps of diet programs everywhere that people who want to undertake special weight loss diet are often confused on which one is right for them. For others, weight loss is something that they undertake without professional medical supervision. However, not all were successful. There were also those who were supervised by professionals but turned out unsuccessful still.
Since the popularity of detox diet boomed early last year, there were products in the market that promised weight loss in a short period of time. It may seem though that detox diet is the easiest and most effective that it became more popular as this year started. Detox diet mania is here to stay longer as more and more products are being manufactured to help consumers succeed in this type of diet.
But what concerns the medical profession and health buffs are the said dangers in detox diet. As there are people who are doing detox diet without professional supervision, how would they be assured that what they are undergoing is safe for their health?
The danger of detox diet buzzed the headlines big time when a woman in UK, Dawn Page, became severely ill of vomiting and epilepsy. She was advised to drink an extra four litres of water a day on top of her normal fluid intake and reduce her salt intake to prevent fluid retention and to help her lose weight which is based on the Amazing Hydration Diet. Although a monetary damage was paid by the consulting nutritional therapist, there was no admission of liability.
Basically, the idea is that if the diet recommends taking a huge volume or amount of a single food or avoiding lots of different food types, then that diet is most probably not good for your system. Remember that even the imposition of a weight loss diet must still maintain the balance diet that our body needs. Balance diet is the key coupled with exercise or physical activities.
Even if there’s a professional dietitian or nutritionist that is supervising your weight loss, common sense as to the reasonableness of the recommended diet is a must. Anything that recommends extreme diet is better avoided. It is also a good thing to do to check the qualifications and background of the health professional you are consulting.
