Exclusive Dining at Edsa Shangrila

Before we left, I was thinking of wearing my usual get-up, short khaki pants and a T-shirt. I didn’t have the idea where we’ll be celebrating Great Grand Lola’s 90th birthday. Boyfriend put on a polo shirt which is unusual (he wears white T-shirt most of the times), but still wore his ragged worn out pants. I tried to match up his attire, and my daughter’s who is wearing a red and black checkered dress which her Grand Aunt purposely bought for this event.

The Great Aunts and Uncle rented one of the rooms in Summer Palace to celebrate Great Grand Lola’s 90th birthday, exclusive for family only.. well, sort of. I’m like the extended (adopted) family member. The room has 2 big round tables. I think up to 10 people can fit on each tables. There’s also a sofa on the glass panel facing the pool on the ground floor. It’s spacious. My kid was running around the room, giggling and shouting.

Okay, here we were posing our best smiles in front of this Christmas Tree. This is outside the room where you can see the other restaurants like Senju (Japanese resto), Papparazzi (which is facing the room where we’re at) and a Kid’s Club. I wasn’t able to look around for more beautiful scenery so I’m stuck with this one. Anyway, my kid is enjoying it.

The waitress, named Diyosa, suggested their Yuletide season (drink of the month) which is Mango Watermelon shake. I didn’t have a clue that she suggested it because it comes with a “free” Teddy Bear that my kid loved so much. (I just found out that it cost almost $8). Good thing I finished the drink. Too expensive for me. lol

I’m not really a food critic, but this one, their so-called Taro cake with some eggplant in it was too oily. At first glance, it looked so delectable. But when I tasted it, hm… there’s something in it that didn’t suit my taste bud. It also had an after-taste… See? It was barely touched.

The other foods are all great, like the very tender beef.. (Sorry, I wasn’t able to take a pic. I was too busy tasting them and looking after my kid). I’m not really into Chinese food especially their pancit (noodles). I hardly finished my cup of noodles.

Somebody gave Great Grand Lola a Mango Ice Cream Cake from Conti’s. I loved it!!! (I love mangoes, I love Ice cream and I love cake!) Perfect! I ate three slices of this Cake. yummy!!!

My kid loves blowing candles. We had to light the candle for more than 5 times until she got tired of blowing. During occasions like these, she gets to blow candles and it always felt like it’s her own birthday.

I can only go to Hotels like this when a relative from abroad goes home and stays in one. Hubby and I were able to stay in the Edsa Shangrila’s Hotel’s lobby before when we met up with his Prospect Client a few years back. I remember we had to wear “formal attire” to be able to get inside this hotel. Well, that was before. I’m not sure now. I was anyway wearing a decent get-up.
