It’s not Skin Tag

Wednesday Aug 4, 2010

Sorry for the delay of followup. When I brought Yz to her “real” pedia Monday afternoon, the doctor confirmed that it wasn’t that serious and there’s no need for surgery whatsoever. Also it wasn’t skin tag, guys. It is actually a hemorrhoid. Remember I told you that Yz had it when she was still a baby and this pediatrician saw it before. She told me (yes, about 3 years ago) to stop feeding Yz banana and apples which makes her poop hard.

You know the stubborn Mommy forgot about it after several days and continued to feed the poor girl bananas and apple. So the rule now in the house (and in the Granny’s) no more bananas and apples on Yz’s reach. Poor Yz, she loves those fruits very much. If only I had followed the doctor’s advice before, then it wouldn’t have grown this big. No surgery will take place if we can make it smaller or be gone forever, and that’s to give her a fiber diet. The doctor also prescribed a topical cream for the hemorrhoid.

thanks for the update. I hope it gets smaller so there’s really no need for surgery. no to bananas and apples (for now :) )!!

same as you, we opted to take out bananas and apples from my 1-year-old daughter’s diet since she was getting constipated. for now, papayas and mangoes are okay, and more veggies like kalabasa for added fiber.

dropping by via adgitize. :)

My daughter had problems with her bowel movement when she was a baby and was told by the doctor about the skin tag too but thanks God, it wasn’t. It was due to her pooping problem. Give her more sweet potatoes or papaya and her poop won’t be hard.

Hi Fedhz, apples and bananas are good, you should still give it to her once in a week at least but make sure that she has enough intake of high-fiber food. Make her eat oatmeal as well.

Yeah, maybe you don’t have to layoff on both bananas and apples completely, just make sure that she also has a fibre-rich diet. Poor Yz!

I was right to say in your former post that it was because of constipation…just like my daughter. She had it also when she was about a year old. Now, she’s 4. So I remember to regulate her eating of apples and bananas.

why not try to switch to brown rice? That’s the only way my son could eat bananas and apples and at the same time avoid constipation
