Wonder why so many people are glued to playing online blackjack? If you had zero idea on how it goes, then, check this out:
The objective of the game is to beat the dealer. Your cards must value higher than the dealers, without going over 21 or busting.
The value of each card, regardless of the suits, is as follows:
- 2 to 10 = face value
- Ace = 1 or 11, choice depends on the player discretion
- Face cards (Jack, Queen, King) = 10
The game starts with the player placing his wager within the limits. He receives the initial hand of two cards. Both of the players cards are faced up. The dealer has also his hand of cards. Only one card is up, called up card while the other one, faced down, is called hole card. The player decides his next step based on the value of the initial two cards. If he is not dealt blackjack (cards equal to 21), he may:
- Hit drawing of another card, thereby, increasing the value of the hand. No need to place additional bet when he hit.
- Double down raising the wager by amount same as his initial bet and automatically receives one more card. This is done when the player sees a potential winning on the cards.
- Split if the player receives a pair, he may wish to split it and play two hands instead of one. The bet equal to the initial bet is automatically placed when the player choose to split.
- Stand keeping the cards as it is and taking no more cards
The dealers turn to decide depends on the ruling of the game. Generally, when he has a total value of 16 or less, he must opt to hit, otherwise, he must choose to stand. The outcome of the game is determined after the dealers turn.
- When the player got higher cards than the dealer, he wins and gets an even pay out.
- When the player got cards totaling over 21, he automatically loses.
- In case of a tie with the dealer, the hand is a push and the bet is returned.
The player can also place a side bet when the up card is an Ace. He bets on dealers blackjack. This is called an insurance bet. If the dealer comes up with blackjack, he gets a pay out, otherwise, he loses. In any case, the game still continues.
