It’s rainy season in this part of the globe and together with it are a lot of diseases and infection that could be contagious to some people. There are many but I will be concentrating about Influenza for now which is commonly known as flu. It is a seasonal viral infection that is spread from person to person through airborne in secretions of the nose and lungs.
It is necessary that we should receive a yearly Influenza vaccine because it is a highly infectious and serious respiratory infection. On top of that, super infections may occur. But the effectiveness of the vaccine depends on the extent of the match between the virus strains of the vaccine and those in actual circulation or that is currently prevalent. This is the reason why we should be re-vaccinated annually.
If you don’t like the injection type then you can try the nasal spray vaccine. Both are effective against influenza virus within two weeks of administration.
Those who should AVOID (or should NOT receive) the Influenza vaccines are the following:
- Anyone with history of allergic reactions to chicken eggs
- Anyone who is allergic to the vaccine itself
- Infants less than 6 months old
- Anyone who has fever recently
- People with Guillain-Barr syndrome

Definitely right, everyone should, in as much as possible, receive an annual flu shot so as to avoid those thousands of Influenza strain out there. In fact, it is growing by the numbers too.
