Would you believe that boyfriend doesn’t go to Gym or has a Personal Trainer? He’s been working out for 4 years now using his very own Home Gym. As for a guy who doesn’t have luxury to splurge on joining fitness centers, (which will eat up your month’s salary for the transportation expense and the monthly fee itself) he used his resourcefulness to make his very own Home Gym.
His homegym buddy equipments:
- Bench (inclining/reclining) – Php 2,000+ or $40+
- Curled bar – Php 500 or $10+
- 2 Dumbells – Php 300 each or $6
- Plates (of different weights) – Php 22 per pound or $0.50
- Stationary Bike (Courtesy of his GrandAunt) – Php 12,000 or $250+
- stool (with a carabao head used to be his “dumbells” and now to put up his feet when he does push ups)
- Push Up Bars (which is his second pair since his Uncle bought from him out of intoxication) Php 500 or $10+
Before he was able to afford a bench, he “bench pressed” on his bed and used the stool as his dumbells. And since we can’t find an effective pull up bars, he uses the cabinet instead. (please don’t mind the mess)
He used to work out everyday for like a year, as far as I can remember. I can’t tell you much of the details what he did or what type of exercise. He always say that it depends on what you’re trying to build up. There are some terms which I often hear like toning, firming, cardio, strength training, weight training, etc.. I have to research more about that.
I just want to point out that you can be fit even if you’re at home and you don’t really need to waste spend your money on fitness centers or expensive equipment home gyms.
Every afternoon or every other afternoon boyfriend goes out to jog around the village for a 6km run since he’s tired of sitting and cycling on his GrandAunt’s stationary bike. He also wants to join some marathon that’s held every month somewhere in the city. I can’t wait to get active again so I can join him (together with our little kiddo).
Scooby has become his mentor when it comes to exercise routines. (no, Scooby is not the dog nor a doctor or a fitness specialist. He’s an engineer actually). But then his routines are working so what the heck. If you want to try then check out his videos here. (No, he hasn’t paid me or anything to say this)
Another boyfriend’s fitness buddy is his Protein Shake which he drinks everyday (if I don’t forget to prepare one for him). Now, he does his routine every other day, sometimes 4 times a week..
Keeping fit is not a routine, it’s a lifestyle.
I hope I’d be able to find some pics when boyfriend was so bony and all.. lol
