You don’t need to get any fancy players for FLV playback, all you need is the right codec. By doing so you can still use your favorite media player. The easiest way to get the codecs you need is to install a codec pack. These are the essential codecs you need to play various file formats all rolled into 1 installer. I recommend using either of the 2 codec packs below which I will explain briefly.
CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack): You probably heard of this codec pack if you’re into watching animé. This is a lite weight no nonsense codec pack which has all the necessary codecs you need to play most of the popular media formats.
K-Lite Codec Pack: This is for the advance user who wants to decode and maybe encode their own files for posterity. This codec pack ships in 3 different flavors (Full, Standard, and Basic). You may download the flavor which suit your needs.
Both plays have the option to install Media Player Classic which I highly recommend you use. It’s a simple and lite weight player which infinitely better than the stock windows media player.
NOTE: Please uninstall any other codec/codec packs on your computer before installing any of these files.
