Mommy Moments – Preggy Days

Being pregnant is one of the most amazing undertaking any woman can experience. I love kids but I didn’t imagine I was going to be a mother at the age 23.. I wish I could’ve kept my Mommy Book so I could tell you in whole detail what I’ve gone through – my vaccines and other personal experiences – during my pregnancy. So this is how I remember the very special 9 months of my life.

1st Month

I was working in a Video shop and my supervisor just delivered her first baby. We were always talking about babies, boyfriends, family life and being pregnant. We have time to chat especially in the morning and early afternoon since there were no customers during those time. I met my pregnant supervisor when she was 3 months preggy and we hit it off immediately since we’re almost about the same age. Our officer in charge has a 6 year old daughter and she often brought her to the store. She’s kinda strict when it comes to work but she loves sharing stories about life in general and being a mother. I learned a lot from them.

They were teasing me that I’m the next one to get pregnant. They were asking me when my next period will be. I told them I am irregular. They told me about spotting, one sign that you’re preggy. But I ditched the idea.

2nd month

I found out that I was pregnant when I took Pregnancy Test October 2006. I had to quit my job since my morning sickness got the better of me. I got uber dizzy and sometimes throw up. I thought it was just a very bad headahce. I didn’t tell my supervisors I was preggy. It was hard to show up and pass my resignation after days of being absent. I really loved that job. That job also supported my SSS maternity claim.

I also had my tummy ultrasound to confirm. I only saw 2 little circles on the film (or whatever you call it), but it confirmed the exact day of conception. During this month I started with my Pre-natal check-ups.

I loved the smell of dried fish cooked in oil. I’d ask my Nanay (mother) to cook dried fish for me. Then she’ll prepare the table and say, “Okay, time to eat!”.. “no, I don’t like to it eat. I just love smelling it.” hehe. I also love anything with tomato/tomato sauce. Before I knew that I was pregnant, I was craving for a junk chip (nacho) with salsa.. I loved the salsa! I also craved for spaghetti.. not just any spaghetti but Mr. Donut’s Spaghetti. I owe my brother the spaghetti he bought from Mr. Donut since he waited for the mall to open so he can buy me one. huhu.. Well, Jollibee Spaghetti will do. lol

3rd month

In this pic I was 3 months pregnant.. See how skinny I was? My normal weight is 79 pounds and I reached 110 when I was pregnant. I hope I retained some pounds but I lost weight and before my daughter turned 1, I am back to my normal (under) weight.

4th month

I first felt her kick (or movement) at around 4 months. I was lying down and chatting with my cousin, when suddenly I felt something different in my tummy. I first thought it was gas, but the feeling was different from moving gas. It tickled me and it was surreal… The best part is the morning sickness was gone.. hooray!

5th month

You can now tell that I was pregnant on the 5th month. A close friend employed me as her assistant even though I was pregnant. I don’t know why but I also have another job offer.. (I bet being pregnant has its perks).

I also notice the special attention people give pregnant women (like what I’ve read from Boyfriend’s mom’s diary.. sshh.. don’t tell her). Strangers and acquaintances alike talked to me like I’m a special person. (feeling celebrity and lola moh!) And given my small figure, I was get the comment.. “You’re too young to be pregnant..”.. or, “Ang aga mo naman nag-asawa!” (You’re too young to have been married early!”) as most oldies say.

I couldn’t resist sleep. My Nanay(mother) kept on waking me up especially if she caught me late in the afternoon. I don’t know, but it’s about an old belief that I still don’t get.

6th Month

I was busy with work. I stay at Boyfriend’s place and his GrandAunt is taking care of me (of course for the Baby’s sake), pampering me with food, milk and vitamins. Aside from the Anmum Milk GrandAunt bought for me, I also drank SoyMilk (my favorite is Soy Yummy’s) and Taho (soft soy with simple syrup) everyday. I also ate fruits like apples and oranges. I remember waking up 5 o’clock in the morning complaining to boyfriend that I’m hungry.

7th month

My employer/friend is starting to worry about me. She always ask if I’m okay, if I’m tired or what not. My work involves a lot of walking and climbing up and down. According to the book I was reading (about pregnancy), hearsay and my obgyne, it is beneficial to get going if you’re pregnant but basically depends on your overall condition. I walked alot but when I sat down, I dozes off.  I really can’t control the dizziness. It’s as if I was drugged lol.

The GrandAunt was the one who was very excited (she adores babies). She insist on having my tummy ultrasound again to check my baby’s gender. She wanted to buy her stuff already so on the day we confirmed that the baby’s a She, the next day we’re inside the mall shopping for baby things.

8th month

Okay, here it comes!.. my 8th month… I even removed this pic from my Friendster account. But I am really amazed how my small tummy got this huge! See my stretchmarks? They’re still on my tummy until now. hehe!

My obgyne advised me to stop my walking and just rest since the baby is already hanging low. I had to change Obgyne due to the location of my first one, but I have no regrets. My 2nd obgyne is nice, smart, and very mellow. I’m glad that she’s the one who delivered my baby.

I still regret up until now why I didn’t take a pretty pose when I was pregnant. Boyfriend and I were having problems back then so I didn’t have a photographer. lol

Hi, Grace! Thank you for visiting my site and dropping some comments. May I know where did you stumble upon my site?

You’re 18? Wow.. yeah. How big is it now? My tummy really looked huge because of my small figure. But it depends. I was really eating almost everything. My normal weight is 90lbs and during my pregnancy I reached 110lbs. haha! Now, I am back to 90lbs.

It’s really itchy because your skin is stretching. But, no you won’t get stretch marks from scratching it. (otherwise they should’ve been called Scratch marks, right?) Anyway, just be patient and keep your skin healthy like taking lots of Vitamin E and drinking lots of water. You can get stretchmarks if your skin doesn’t have good elasticity.

I’m lazy. I didn’t take care of my skin. so yeah, I have huge ugly stretch marks. My obgyne said it will fade but scars and ugly loose skins will still remain. If you really want them to vanish, you need laser. Wow! As if I have all the luxury. Well anyway, I don’t mind much. Just need to keep myself healthy so I can take care of my baby.

You’ll be needing lots of energy especially if your kid started walking. As in lots of it! They’re very movable! lol

Hope to hear from you. I would be happy to hear your mommy moments too!
