Feeding time is the most challenging task being a mommy – even if it’s breastfeeding, bottle-feeding or “spoon-feeding” (no pun intended).
Y.z. loves Cheese. “Please bless this cheese, that I’m about to receive.”
1st month
I wasn’t able to breastfeed Y.z. the very first day since I delivered her through Caesarian and she had to stay in the nursery. The nurses and doctors advices me all the time that I have to be ready to breastfeed her. My mind is really set for the breastfeeding since boyfriend really believes that BREASTFEED IS BEST FOR BABIES. But then, since I can not breastfeed my daughter yet, the nurses gave her Enfalac.
I guess I did the proper latch-on here as described in the book. This is the first successful latch-on.
When I ask for Y.z. the third day, I was then able to implement what I’ve been practicing in my mind while reading Mommy books. It was hard as the book says. It really takes a lot of practice. I was disappointed and frustrated at the same time. I had to give her the formula. I can’t find the perfect position. My tummy was still aching and the hospital bed is screeching with every move.
Before we left the hospital, my obgyne prescribed NATALAC, malunggay supplements to help my breasts produce lots of milk. The boobie pump GrandAunt bought really comes in handy. There are many kinds of pump available, like the ones that were used before by my Nanay (mother).. the conventional one. But Nanay said, it was daunting using that pump. I forgot the Brand of this pump, but it was really cool to use it. If you need help, I can assist you with it. lol
Like what the author said in my favorite book, THE BABY WHISPERER SOLVES ALL YOUR PROBLEMS, use it or lose it. I had to pump every 2 hours to keep the milk flowing. I had to push myself that although I was tired and still groggy from the pain killers I took, I woke up every 2hours to pump milk.
The first day was very challenging. In 10 minutes, I can only get 1ml of milk from each breast. I took 3 Natalacs a day, and on the 10th day, I was able to get 2 ounces from each breast. People will look at me with amazement when they see pumped milk in Y.z’s feeding bottles.. “Where do you get all those milk?”.. looking at me down to my boobs. (yeah, I am flat-chested, but thank god I am able to use it).
Feeding time with Daddy. Don’t forget to Burp Me.
4th – 8 months
Yz’s GrandAunt insist on feeding her fruits and vegetables. I got back to work, so the feeding was left to Y.z’s Nanny/Lola (my Nanay’s sister). Everyday, she was fed with mashed or pureed potatoes, papayas, and carrots. I also tried giving her Cerelac. But Pediatrician said you really don’t need those Boxed/prepared baby foods. It’s still best to make your own.
Holding the bottle by herself. hehe (5 months)
9th month
Yz was eating chicken liver and rice – Porridge rice, that is. She doesn’t like milk on her rice (unlike my nieces/nephews) which I was accustomed to. Well, anyway, at least she prefers fruit shakes or fruit juices. She loves apple and carrot juice.
She started feeding herself around 14 months (as far as I can remember). She wanted to have her own spoon. Like the ones we use.. She doesn’t like to use the teaspoon.
Even though Yz loves biscuits, I don’t think she grew up to be a snacker. I just give her crackers to occupy her while we’re out or when I’m doing something.
One Year
I don’t want to give her sugar until she’s 1 year old. But you know GrandMothers.. they love giving sweets to kids! I don’t know, but they just love it. It’s annoying sometimes, especially if they would comment.. “Your kid is hyper-active!”.. Oh yeah.. she had a lot of sugar this day… “why would you give her sugar?”.. duh?!
Y.z. can finish this Tuna Pesto in one sitting. She loves the green color. I think she grew tired of eating the red tomato sauce.
Where’s the food, Daddy?
Although Yz (21 months) can feed herself, I still prefer feeding her if I’m not in the mood to clean up her mess. But she’s all grown up now. She’ll tell me.. “No!.. Yz’s”.. meaning,.. the spoon is Yz’s and she’s the only one who should hold it.

Your daughter is such a beautiful baby. They sure do grow up fast. I agree, it’s hard to feed the kids no matter the age. My little one is 4 and we battle every night. It takes her hours to eat dinner. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a great weekend.
@Michelle: thank you for dropping by, too! Pedia said she’s prone to being overweight so I don’t need to force her to eat. haha! I can’t wait for her to reach 2 (terrible two’s). she’s a handful already. what else can I expect?
wow, documented properly
thanks for sharing your stories with us this week! its a delight to look back at the development of our babies
I also feed my princess when I don’t feel like cleaning up after she eats. I’m actually looking forward to that they when she starts eating without the mess.
@chris: Hello, Mommy! Actually I had a lot to share but I want to keep my post short. baka ma-bore kayo, hehe. Yup, I had to look for my baby’s old pics for this. I love it!
@Gin: Yup.. and that is because we don’t have our own house yet. I can let her be if we’re living on our own.
You have nice feeding pictures of your daughter here, Fedhz. I couldn’t say the same for my son. I only breastfed him for a few days because I was on medication for a medical condition. He’s become quite a picky eater, too, but he eats a lot of the foods that he really likes.
very well said. I’m reminded of my post-delivery days too when every move…everything is so tough but motherhood won’t be complete kung wala yun di ba? And seeing your baby thriving very well – yun na ang reward natin.
Your daughter is very beautiful, they grow up much too fast.
so true about grandmoms and aunts, parang they intend to give in to the baby’s whims no..
si kayil nakatikhim lang ng sweets when he was two.. while Mico when he turns one.. now with chico I intend to delay his sweets as much as I can. I notice kase with Kayil he is not much into sweets unlike Mico.
Kung maasikaso ko lang din I would rather na ipaggawa ng
food si Chico but since I can’t, he just have to live with cerelac hehe..
At alam mo dear, breast size does not really matter when it comes to breast feeding.. isa lang naman un e, ung willingness ng nanay to breastfeed di ba? hehe
Make or Break

@Tetcha: Thank you for the compliments. ^^, I’m sorry you had to stop breastfeeding. I know how hard it felt since I had to refrain from breastfeeding Y.z. when I took antibios for my UTI.
@Mai: Hello! thanks for dropping by. I hope to see more of you in my next posts. ^^ Yup! Being a Mommy (parent) is the most rewarding experience ever!
@megryansmom: hello there! are you the actress’ mom? hehe. I love Meg! yeah.. every month my daughter has new tricks. ^^
@pehpot: hehe! Yup.. regarding breasts: like what boyfriend always say, “it’s not what your machine can do for you; but what you can do with your machine”.. hehe!
What half body pic are you pertaining to?
@Marvin: Hi! I missed you.. yeah.. she likes to eat with chopsticks.. I feed her with chopsticks too.

@edelweiza: Hi! Thanks for the visit. I’m glad that you learned something from my post. Hope you visit my other Mommy posts too! ^^
Looks so enjoyable huh… I’ll just wait my time then. How old were you here, Fedhz?
Heya fedhz. Napadpad dito dahil sa link dun sa other post mo. Nacurious ako sa breastfeeding. Hihi. Di ko maimagine sarili ko pano yun. Paturo pag that time comes ha. Well, siguro 2 years from now, depende kay bf. Wahaha. So ayun ha, gusto namin ibreastfeed din baby, pano magpump? So bale yung mom’s milk sya ung mapupunta sa feeding bottle? Sorry sa stupid question. Haha.
haha. sure sure. no prob. magaling ako jan. hahaha. 2 years ako nagbreastfeed at nagpump eh. inaral ko talaga. anong stupid dun? hehe
