At last, I was able to set foot at La Mesa Ecopark here in Quezon City. To think I live here in Quezon City ever since I was born. From Commonwealth Avenue to East Fairview (where Eco Park is) was only a short 15 minute ride. There are 3 Entrances – the two entering a Private Subdivision and the other one in between a gas station and Sangkalan restaurant.
From the developing city outside, you will never have guessed that there’s a paradise hidden beyond the noisy, crazy streets. I never thought that NATURE is just minutes away.
Although we went there on a weekend, (Saturday) we were still able to find a nice parking spot… It was 4 o’clock in the afternoon and a perfect time to stroll. But I suggest going there in the morning and a weekday so you can enjoy the whole place. As expected, the park is packed with people in weekends most especially, Sunday. The Park is open Daily from 8am to 5pm. We only have an hour to stroll.
There are lots of activities you can do in La Mesa Eco Park like boating, swimming, horse-back riding, sliding, climbing trees, fishing, biking and butterfly watching, and exercise. A great place for the family, friends, and lovers.
I think this is a man-made pond like the ones in Baguio. I don’t know if those guys were able to catch some fish. We like the idea of boating but got lazy. Besides, we don’t know how to paddle. lol
Unfortunately, the wheels in this kalesa are flat so Y.z. and I weren’t able to enjoy horse-back riding. She’s not allowed to ride the horse’s back and besides I’m scared. Maybe next time when Daddy is with us.
Y.z. loves butterflies. But since we came in late, the butterflies are not as active. Better be there in the morning where you can see them flying around. This kind of butterfly is the one use in weddings and other celebrations.
117 steps to La Mesa Dam
Aside from walking, you can get to workout using these wooden gym equipments. There’s a bench, and the monkey bars over there.. Whose shadow is that? hehe
Outside the Eco park, just before the parking space, there’s a wall climbing event. I don’t know if they are just renting the area. There’s also a paintball field! Wonderful!
We’re not able to swim although Y.z. and her Aunt brought some swimming clothes. But then, GrandAunt was very cautious. She thought we might acquire fungus or whatever bacteria there. Ask Ate Peh if they have experienced any.
The trip to La Mesa Eco park was very educational. Aside from the butterflies, Y.z. and I saw the stick insect and the leaf insect.
We were able to enjoy the Makahiya Leaves for free!
I am looking forward to our next Trip to La Mesa Eco Park. I hope Daddy can tag along by then. La Mesa Eco Park has a lot to offer. I will definitely love to go back!
